This home birth was absolutely beautiful. Mom labored quietly in bed, breathing calm and deep. At times, you would think she was sleeping peacefully. Colorado Home Birth

When she moved to the bathroom before heading to the birthing tub, things began picking up. But once in the tub, it seemed the calm washed over her again. Her breathing was determined and steady, but there was hardly a sound. Her amazing doula, who had been with her through each of her previous 3 births, knew exactly what she needed to hear. Dad joined her in the water so she could rest against him (and help plug the hole that had popped the inner lining! whoops!) Big sister joined the birth team, even though it was 1 a.m. by this time. She was so sweet, watching and loving on her mom.

Things became super quiet and calm for awhile. No one was speaking. The only sound in the room was mom’s intermittent deep breathing. Then suddenly, she let out a loud yell and was pushing. Everyone jumped to their position and only moments later, a beautiful little girl was born. Big sister saw it all and was beside herself with excitement!

The next hour was spent feeding baby, snuggles and quiet time. Then measurements were taken, baby checked out as perfect and everyone slipped out into the night to let the new family of 6 rest. The next day, it was so adorable to see each older sibling loving on the newest member of their family, showering her with kisses and all trying to come up with a name for her. That wasn’t decided for the next couple days however, when the text came through, “She has a name! Lennon Mae :)” Swoon….

This beautiful family is super special to me. Mama, Jessica and I “met” in 2011 when we found out we were both having February 2012 babies (Both ended up being January babies instead. There impatientness has stuck with them!) We became part of an amazing online group and even though we lived states away, formed a friendship.  When we moved to Colorado, I was pumped to find out she lived within an hour of our new home. Even though we don’t see each other as much as we would like, it’s been so sweet to watch her daughter T grow up and now become a big sister!

Welcome to the world sweet Evie!

If you would rather not read my lengthy explanation, here is the short version. DGP is now For The Love Films! I am offering family video sessions and below is an example I recently did of my own family! If you are interested in having your own video done, scroll to the bottom of this post for details on getting a limited time discounted price!

What can I say? I like change. I love change. I do not do well when I feel like life is becoming mundane. Casey and I have lived in 9 different places in our 10.5 years together. As much as I would like to buy a house, I just don’t know if it would be a good idea. We don’t like to move, but we love the newness of living in a different place. I’m hoping this doesn’t majorly screw up my kids. I like to think they won’t be too attached to a “place” and that they will learn to be flexible in life.

I’ve made a lot of changes in my business as well. I started as DG Photography, then quickly changed to Danielle Good Photography. I’ve had many logos over the years and a couple websites. As much as this doesn’t bother me to make changes, I’m pretty sure it does nothing good for my search-ability. Not to mention a move to a totally different state and I may have just guaranteed myself that no one is ever going to be able to find me.

But alas, I’m changing things up once again. I love photography, but adding in videography has done something for my soul. From the moment I first rented a video capable camera, it all just made sense. Video has been the missing link for me. My brain sees things in motion, way more often than still shots like so many other photographers. It’s been something that has frustrated me over the years and it’s exciting to know that I can now offer what I know.

It all started with a little video for a family session. Thank goodness they said yes when I approached them with, “So I borrowed this camera for a few days. Would you let me take some video also?” I had no clue what I was doing, but it changed everything. I was hooked. You can see that first video here. Don’t judge for the mistakes I made. 🙂

So that finally brings to me today! As I explain in my About page, For The Love came about when I knew I needed to incorporate more video into my life. I am already doing 90% of my births in video, but I realized, I miss my families. I stopped taking full family sessions when we moved to Colorado and was only doing some mini sessions around Christmas card season. But I wasn’t going to be happy doing photo only sessions again. I want to offer something different for people. Family videos where they can hear their voices, see how they moved and played and be able to remember what everything looked like when they watch these movies years from now. Now that my dad is gone, there is nothing I wouldn’t do to have video of him playing with and talking to my kids. To hear his voice again. I don’t mean to be a downer, but you never understand how important those things are until you can’t have them.

As I was brainstorming, many new names came and went. I was sitting with my 3 year old one day, who never stops talking and is a total threenager (whoever coined that, is genius) and I said, okay, probably yelled, “For the LOVE!” I think I probably say that phrase on average, 50 times a day. And it just stuck. Even though its totally sarcastic and usually used in place of a would-be curse word, it works and it feels perfect.

Wow, that was winded. In short, here we are! We are officially For The Love Films. I would be honored to capture a day in your life. And for a very short time, I am offering extremely discounted sessions. Five to be exact. And if you would like to be considered, check out the details below and then send me a contact form!
